Watch Out for Late Season Heating Problems

We’re getting to the end of winter her in Bryn Mawr, PA, and while there’s plenty of cold days to come, those temperatures are going to start creeping up very soon. Now is the time of year when we tend to see a lot of repair calls coming in on heating systems that have worked for several months nonstop. That constant use can take a toll and if you’re not careful you could find yourself with a heating repair call late in the season. The sooner you can spot such heating problems, the faster you can call in ac repair service and the better off you’ll be. Here’s a quick list of issues to watch for.

Clogged Burners

Your furnace’s burners can get clogged with dust and dirt, causing some of them to stop burning gas. That means the air in your system will take longer to heat up and your furnace will need to work harder in order to do its job. Higher monthly bills and the increased likelihood of repairs elsewhere in the system are likely to follow.

Fan Motor Issues

The fan motor turns the fan that blows heated air into your ducts. It undergoes a great deal of stress and strain during the winter months, increasing the chances that it will breakdown or suffer a short. The fan belt, too can become loose or even break, and will need to be replaced before the system will function again.

Ignition Issues

Most ignition systems are electric these days, replacing the more problematic model of the pilot light. But if your ignition system is particularly old or worn out, then it might not ignite the gas, and your furnace won’t turn on. That’s actually a good thing – it means you won’t flood your home with gas when you turn on our furnace – but it will still need to be addressed.
